Receive instruction in a variety of hand-building techniques and work on the potter's wheel. Projects may be either functional or sculptural. All levels are welcome.

Explore still life composed of a variety of objects,surfaces, shapes, and natural materials. Explore under-painting; work from preliminary drawings to finished piece in one session. Glass Art with Cassondra Argeros

Working with a palette of glass frits, powders and stringers create sheets of art glass limited only by your imagination. Students will choose a project of there liking such as a tile, pendant, etc.

 

           

Assemblages with Gerald Mead

This workshop consists of two sessions. In the first (3/5) Gerald will give a slide presentation showing both historic and contemporary approaches to assemblage (also referred to as "three-dimensional collage") that are constructed of found objects and other materials. He will use examples of his own work to discuss the process of selecting, collecting and combining materials to create sculptural works and demonstrate several unique assemblage techniques he's developed. In the second session (10/30) participants will use the objects and materials they have brought in to create their own assemblage. Construction, balance, concept and assembly are among issues that will be discussed and demonstrated.

 

     

Bookbinding for Beginners with Amy Greenan

Using simple techniques and materials learn to create books that can be used for just about anything. Soft and hardcover bookmaking using sewing and gluing techniques will be demonstrated. Students bring brown bag lunch to eat during class. Supply list will be provided.

Intro to Web Design with Tammy McGovern

Squeaky Wheel

Learn the basics of web page layout and design using HTML and Dreamweaver. Participants will learn to use HTML and CSS to design stylish, fun and user-friendly web pages. Knowledge of Photoshop is helpful but not necessary. Basic computer literacy or Intro to Mac workshop is required.

Copyright Basics for Visual Artists

with Les Greenbaum

Les Greenbaum of Gross, Shuman, Brizdle & Gilfilllan, P.C., will discuss how Copyright, The Visual Artist Right Act, The New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law, and simple contracts can protect (but sometimes forfeit) the rights of visual artists and their works.

 

      

Portfolios and Proposals with Cori Wolff

Artists will learn how to properly market their work for exhibitions to galleries and museums. Discussion topics include development of a submission package and finding appropriate venues for the type of work produced.

Use Buffalo Art Studio's digital camera and lighting equipment to learn the basics of digitally photographing your artwork. Students may bring artwork with them, but must have a SD digital memory card for recording images.

 

 

PRE-REGISTRATION is required for all classes. There is a maximum enrollment of 10 students in each class, unless otherwise noted.  All classes are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.  Please see registration form @ Sign-Up above.
