Fokus’d Kreatives

CRNY Fellow Aitina Fareed-Cooke of Get Fokus’d Productions has been dedicated to the engagement and development of youth for close to 20 years. Through GFP’s Fokus’d Kreatives initiative she involves young emerging artists in contractual and conceptual projects. The belief is that engaging young emerging artists in career-building opportunities and highlighting their artistic abilities, motivates them to strengthen their craft and inspire others to do the same.

Aitina will guide emerging artists into exhibiting their own artistic work that interprets the porch from their perspective.

Get Fokus’d Productions is one of the proud sponsors of the CEPA Gallery Photography Works Program. The CEPA Gallery’s Photography Works Program is a year-long mentorship program for young people interested in photography.

On Friday, June 16th, the current cohort of 8-10 students showcased their work to the public, including our two emerging artists from Get Fokus’d Productions/Fokus’d Kreatives, Isaac Fareed and Mykiss Washington, who successfully completed the program. This gallery exhibit closes on July 14th.

Congrats Tallulah!

Tallulah Gordon has earned a grant to support the creation of new work to showcase in the upcoming Creativity in the Time of COVID-19: Art as a Tool for Combatting Inequity and Injustice project. This is a public humanities collaboration between SUNY Buffalo’s Amatryx Lab & Studio and Michigan State University’s Digital Humanities & Literary Cognition Lab, with support by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s “Just Futures” Initiative.

This exhibition will run August 25 – September 20, 2023 across multiple venues: Buffalo Arts Studio, Squeaky-Wheel, and Buffalo Game Space.

Also, besides gaining income-earning opportunities through Get Fokus’d Productions, Tallulah secured a summer internship at the Buffalo Camera at Expressway Cinema Rentals!
