Internship and Volunteer Opportunities at Buffalo Arts Studio

Buffalo Arts Studio is a not-for-profit arts organization whose mission is to provide affordable studio space and regular public exposure for regional, national, and international artists through exhibitions, art classes, and public art. Located in the historic TriMain Center at 2495 Main Street in Buffalo, BAS facilities include two exhibition galleries, classrooms, ceramics suite, and safe studio space for 34 Studio Artists.  Buffalo Arts Studio presents dozens of exhibitions and special events each year, reaching nearly 11,000 individuals annually. BAS relies on interns and volunteers to support the small staff with this ambitious programming. Our internship program offers a combination of training, mentorship, and hands-on experience. We also welcome on-going volunteers through programs like our Friends of Fourth Fridays, as well as one time or special event volunteers.

Internships:

With our combination of exhibitions, education, and outreach, Buffalo Arts Studio is an excellent place to become involved in Buffalo’s thriving arts community.  We also enrich our internships with a comprehensive understanding of the tasks performed and how they contribute to overall programming.

  • Arts Management: daily administration, office tasks, and database management.
  • Gallery Assistant: wall preparation/restoration, art installation, labeling, and guest services.
  • Curatorial Assistant: submission review, studio visits, artist interviews, installation, guest tours.
  • Education Assistant: teaching, scheduling, curriculum, supply, and student management.
  • Development/Marketing Assistant: development and production of promotional materials, grant applications, project budgets, and event promotions.

To apply for an internship, please submit a cover letter (indicating your area of preference) and resume to Curator Shirley Verrico at shirley@buffaloartsstudio.org
