“Art is Why” highlights the artwork of art teachers within the Buffalo Public Schools network, and examine the processes that influence networks of students, spanning generations of creative leadership within the Buffalo Public Schools System. This exhibit delves into the personal artistic practice of a number of educators, and examines the balancing act of being both an educator within the arts, as well as a producer of artwork, in turn. For the participating educators, being an artist as well as a teacher are concentric circles, and spheres of influence that regularly inform one another; this exhibit begins to unpack the ways in which participants and proponents of the visual arts shape our community, and our ways of experiencing the world.
